The Company

This established and highly innovative business manufacture delicious ambient products for the UK major multiples.

They are now seeking a Specifications Technologist who can support the delivery of exceptional products and ensure they maintain their podium in the marketplace.

The Role

As a key member of the company’s dedicated technical team, you’ll be responsible for:

• Creating and managing product specifications for retailer customers, and own-brand products, ensuring compliance with relevant codes of practice and standards

• Overseeing critical path task completion, meeting deadlines and KPIs while ensuring high-quality, accurate specifications

• Liaising with third parties and retailers during the approval process for artworks and specifications

• Supporting the NPD team with nutritional calculations, product submissions, and ensuring alignment between factory paperwork, recipes, and specifications

• Managing Brandbank reviews, product launches, and assisting with Brexit-related requirements and relevant audits

• Assisting in training other specification writers and contributing to additional projects like packaging reviews and raw material risk assessments.

The Person

We are looking for an experienced individual with a background in food specifications within a manufacturing environment. You will have hands-on knowledge of some key retailer systems and be up to date with their specific requirements and codes of practice. A proactive self-starter, you will thrive under pressure and have the ability to meet tight deadlines, while managing your time effectively.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for liaising with internal teams, external customers, and third parties.

Knowledge of Brexit coding, packaging and legal labelling, and food safety is required, with further training in these areas and internal audit experience considered a bonus. A food-based degree or similar qualification is desirable, along with an understanding of sustainability requirements (e.g., FSC, RSPO).
